Sheep Creek Geological Loop
Scenic Byway Route Map
Feel free to explore...
Sheep Creek Geological Loop is a favorite of locals and visitors alike. With the introduction of Big Horn Sheep and Wild Turkeys in recent years, it has become a great place to watch wildlife. The Sheep Creek River is closed to fishing during the Salmon run which makes for a great time to put down the rod and pick up the camera, catching some great shots of the orange hooked-jaw fish in spawn. In late summer the lower portion of the loop is home to the annual Tower Rock 5k & 10K Run. The Northern entrance to the loop rises out of the river bottom willows into vast geological variations before climbing deep into the cedars and lodge pole pines.
